Research interests

My research focuses on neurophysiological changes in Alzheimer's disease patients.

On the one hand, my aim is to further unravel the origins of Alzheimer's disease by 1) investigating the role of the magnetoencephalography-based functional brain network in the spread of tau-proteins, and 2) finding proof for neuronal hyperexcitability as a key early factor in Alzheimer's disease patients in a translational mice-human project and in patients with interictal epileptiform discharges.

On the other hand, my focus is to find sensitive and robust neurophysiological biomarkers for support in diagnostic decision making, in predicting progression of the disease and in monitoring treatment outcome.
