Research interests

Professor Arjen Dondorp is an intensive care and infectious diseases physician based at the Amsterdam Institute of Global Health and Development in Amsterdam, the Netherlands and the Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit in Bangkok, Thailand where he is the Deputy Director and heads the Malaria and Critical Illness research department.  He is a Professor of Tropical Medicine at the University of Oxford, Professor of Translational Global Health at the University of Amsterdam, Visiting Professor of Clinical Tropical Medicine at Mahidol University in Thailand and a Fellow of The Academy of Medical Sciences in the U.K.. His main research interests include the pathophysiology and treatment of severe malaria, antimalarial drug resistance, new treatments for drug resistant falciparum malaria and the improvement of intensive care practice in developing countries.
