Research interests
My overall research aim is the application of modern imaging analysis techniques in clinical practice for neurological and head and neck diseases.
My current projects focus on quantifying neurodegeneration in Multiple Sclerosis (MS) by determining brain age on MRI scans, detecting active inflammatory MS lesions on brain MRI without the use of contrast agents, computer aided diagnosis in dementia, and improving the visualization of bone structures with MRI in head and neck diseases.
These projects are conducted in close collaboration with the dept. of Neurology, MS Center Amsterdam, Alzheimer Center Amsterdam, dept. of Anatomy and Neuroscience, Structural Brain Imaging Group and the dept. of Otolaryngology and Head and Neck Surgery.
