Personal profile

Research interests

My ambition is to contribute to solving health problems worldwide by conducting and coordinating academic health science and practicing implementation science. I have a special interest in researching behavior and psychosocial behavioral determinants, prevention, and health inequalities between groups, as this is where the most health gains can be achieved. Hereby, a diversity-responsive approach is crucial to me, as I believe that every individual deserves equal opportunities for both mental and physical health.

specialisation

PhD Candidate in the PIECES project. The main purpose of this project is to adapt and implement existing evidence-based PCP's (primary cancer prevention programmes) to improve implementation outcomes and by that, improve reach and effectiveness of primary prevention programmes in real-world settings. We will address a wide range of risk factors and focus on specific behavior change mechanisms that promote healthy behaviors associated with a reduction of cancer incidence among the European Union (EU) population and beyond. The tool will include a comprehensive repository of PCP programs, including Theories of Change, along with materials aimed to adapt these programs to local needs and cultural limitations.

Previous projects as Junior Researcher:
1. To what extent does the care provided by the youth health care system Amsterdam meet the standards for diversity-responsive care (LIKE- study)?
2. Higher burden of COVID-19 in people with a Turkish, Moroccan, Surinam and Ghanaian background in the Netherlands: exploring healthcare seeking behaviors for COVID-19 related complaints (HELIUS-study).
