Personal profile

Research interests

The research group focusses on translational research in the field of obesity. First, we aim to identify metabolic pathways that are involved in insulin resistance and second, we are studying the interaction between nutrition, metabolism and the brain. We use different methods to address those questions, i.e. human intervention studies, hyperinsulinemic euglycemic clamps, stable isotopes, liver magnetic resonance spectroscopy, functional MRI, SPECT and tissue biopsies (liver, muscle and adipose tissue).

Since the lab performs translational research, we collaborate with basis research scientists within the AMC and from Yale and Harvard University in the US.
