Personal profile

Research interests

“No public health without migrant health” – I am a medical doctor and postdoctoral researcher studying cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk among sub-Saharan African (SSA) migrants in Europe. With this research, I hope to reduce health inequalities and improve migrant health. By conducting innovative population-based research, in which I assess gene-environment interaction, I try to elucidate causes of the high burden of CVD risk factors, ultimately informing targeted interventions. As the population of today’s clinical health practices are increasingly diverse, policymakers and health professionals should have knowledge about ethnic differences in health and disease – I hope to contribute to improving this knowledge.
