Research interests

I am a senior researcher at the department of Medical Psychology of the Academic Medical Center in Amsterdam. My areas of expertise include Patient Reported Outcomes Measures, and more specifically health-related quality of life, patients’ treatment preferences and patient adherence to medical treatment recommendations. I have a special interest in the evaluation of methods to assess patient adherence to medical recommendations and the evaluation of medical interventions from the patient perspective, i.e., impact on patients’ health-related quality of life, treatment adherence and patient preferences. Most of my research has been conducted in the field of infectious diseases, particularly HIV infection, but also in a wide range of other medical conditions in high and low income countries.
