Burn wound healing, Skin regeneration and Immunology

Research interests

Ibrahim Korkmaz is a senior researcher in Burn wound healing, Skin regeneration and Immunology at the Dept. Plastic, Reconstructive & Hand Surgery, and the SkinLab, Dept. Molecular Cell Biology & Immunology of the Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc in Amsterdam and the Burn Center and Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Red Cross Hospital, in Beverwijk in the Netherlands.

His research lines include skin regeneration, wound healing and immunology, and his approaches are both experimental and computational.  His research especially focuses on the post-burn immune response and 3D reconstructed human skin models for burn wound healing. Moreover, he has initiated a totally new approach which is complementary to organotypic skin models which are used to investigate wound healing and fibrosis: it is a systems biology approach to understanding burn wound healing.
