Research interests

With a strong background in cardiac development and disease, the strength of my group is our expertise in cell differentiation and tissue engineering. My research in the recent years has focused on deriving and characterizing specific cardiomyocyte subtypes from human induced pluripotent stem cellls in order to study mechanisms of cardiac differentiation and disease. The larger goal of my work is to unlock the molecular mechanisms that regulate heart rate and rhythm, ultimately charting the path for effective therapies to address life threatening cardiac arrhythmias.
