specialisation
Needs, circumstances, characteristics and outcomes of people with psychotic disorders differ substantially. The focus of our research is on people with early psychosis and their variation in response to treatment, substance use, co-morbidity, cognitive and social functioning and long-term morbidity and mortality. We investigate the complex interplay of factors that are important to psychosis by triangulating research methods, populations, and outcomes (neuroimaging, genetic data, clinical and psychosocial outcomes, process measures). My findings have led to drastic changes in clinical care, such as the implementation of smokefree grounds and stopping-smoking treatment programs. The overall aim of my research is to improve the quality of care for patients with psychosis and, ultimately, their outcomes across the lifespan.
