We try to gain insight into the mechanisms by which cardiac malformations develop by studying how the cell lineage distribution of the forming heart is regulated. For this purpose, we use ChIP-seq data to identify epigentic regulatory regions on the genome surrounding cardiac relevant genes and subsequently characterize such regions using functional assays, such as luciferase assays and in vivo F0 screening in mouse embryos.
