Accumulation of childhood adversity and physical health

My research focuses on physical health of adolescents and young adults following childhood adversity. Examples of childhood adversity are experiencing poverty, parental illness and parental separation. I am especially interested in the relation between childhood adversity and conditions such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease. Childhood adversities can influence physical health through behavioral, mental health and biological mechanisms. Through research I want to unravel the pathways through which different childhood adversities influence physical health and establish how adverse physical health following childhood adversity can be prevented.
