Research interests
People with severe or moderate ID and genetic syndrome need support throughout their lives in daily activities. They also have an increased risk for challenging behaviour, which is considered an expression of distress or a need for support. For a personalized approach, healthcare professionals from mental health care, hospitals and intellectual disability care, need to collaborate effectively with parents in an expert role. Unfortunately, this collaboration often falls short. We aim to learn what healthcare professionals and parents can change to improve collaboration.
