Research interests

My research focuses on the use of Patient Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs, or standardized validated questionnaires) in clinical practice and research.

By training I am a medical psychologist (MSc at Tilburg University) and in 2017 I started my PhD project at the department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and Psychosocial Care in the Emma Children’s Hospital Amsterdam UMC. My PhD project focuses on the optimization of PROM use in clinical practice, by overcoming identified barriers on the level of clinicians, patients, the PROM system and PROMs.

I have experience with both quantitative (outcomes and psychometrics) and qualitative (focus groups) research methods and I am currently performing a systematic review.

I am involved in several (inter)national collaborations, whereof my participation in the COVID-19 consortium is a good example. With this consortium I performed several studies on the effects of COVID-19 on mental and social health of children and adolescents.

Besides being passionate about research, I am very much interested in organizing and teaching. This is reflected in the various boards I am member of and in my role as PROM implementation advisor for the PROM expertisecenter.
