Research interests

My current research project is about improving the communication of outcome data to patients with lower health literacy/numeracy. I will delve into the strategies used for the decision-making by patients, and I will research how information is processed. Furthermore, I will collaborate with both patients and healthcare professionals to create a new communication method that will fit their wishes and needs. Eventually, this project contributes to knowledge in communication and shared decision-making with people in vulnerable situations.

My research project is embedded within the department of Public & Occupational Health, section Quality and Organization of Care. This section aims to improve the quality and organization of public, curative, and palliative health care for citizens, patients, and health care professionals, organizations, and health care systems by performing research and translating scientific knowledge into practice, policy and education. Within this section, my research falls under the RISC Amsterdam research group: Risk communication for Informed and Shared decision-making.
