Personal profile
Research interests
My research focuses on the validation and implementation of Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) in research and clinical practice.
From my background in Methodology & Statistics (MSc, Leiden University) in Psychology my main research interests lie in psychometrics, item response theory, computerized adaptive testing and structural equation modelling and the application of these models to improve accuracy of measurements and reduce burden for patients in healthcare, for example with the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS).
I have developed and taught the EpidM post-master course "Item Response Theory" since 2020 and I provide statistical consultation on questionnaire develoment through E&B Xpert (Vrije Universiteit) since 2020.
In addition I am interested in the application of machine learning algorithms to PROM data and the visualisation of data in PROM dashboards (e.g. Epic/HiX/PowerBI).
Another interest of mine is the impact of COVID-19 on the mental and social health of children and adolescents and I am involved with multiple international consortiums regarding these effects.
Last but not least, I have a general interest in the development of new methodological approaches; both qualitative and quantative. Hence I am part of the junior board of the Methodology branch of Amsterdam Public Health since 2019.
