Research interests

 The focus of my research is on protozoan infections in general and malaria in particular. The research concentrates on epidemiology, etiology of fever, detection of parasites, treatment and drug resistance.

Current research lines are:
-Development and evaluation of molecular malaria diagnostics.
-Malaria in pregnancy, detection, treatment, and biomarkers.
-Clinical trials to improve drug treatment for malaria in children.
-Community centered approaches to improve (maternal) health.
-Diagnostic development for fever syndromes to stop antimicrobial drug resistance.
