Syndemic of hypertension, diabetes, mental illness and HIV

    Project Details

    Description

The Ministry of Health in Eswatini embarks on the national scale-up of decentralized care for hypertension and diabetes, in an attempt to address the overburdened health system. The WHO-pen project is a cluster-randomized trial to assess the most efficient way of organizing the decentralization.

The syndemics project is part of WHO-pen and uses the community-based surveys to map the syndemic of prevalent infectious and non-infectious diseases. It tries to elucidate if specific scale-up strategies for different groups are warranted to improve decentralized care.
