N2 - This chapter focuses on the genetic causes of central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC). First, we summarize studies that support a genetic component in the etiology of CSC. Next, we provide a brief review of the genetic architecture of diseases and which techniques can be used to unravel these genetic components, followed by a summary of all candidate gene studies and a genome-wide association study that have been performed for CSC. The chapter concludes with a perspective about the implications of the robust association of the CFH gene with CSC, and future studies into the genetics of CSC are proposed.
