Abstract
The paper describes the development of a structure for coordination and care for severe trauma, for instance after major disasters, with the help of mobile medical teams and regional trauma centers, in the Netherlands. The structure presumably offers best chances for survival for the individual patient. The concept has been introduced in 1999 and implementation is still ongoing.
