Abstract

High-dose (80 mg) simvastatin is efficacious in both reducing low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (-48%) and triglyceride (-26%) levels and in elevating high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (+ 13%) levels in a large cohort of patients with familial hypercholesterolemia. No tachyphylaxis was seen during a 2-year treatment period, and therapy with simvastatin 80 mg was well tolerated
