Implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) are nowadays routinely used as a prophylaxis for patients that have an increased risk for malignant ventricular arrhythmias and for secondary prevention in patients that have survived sudden cardiac death (SCD).[1] Algorithms are introduced in almost every new generation of ICDs.
