Abstract

The treatment of vitiligo differs per subtype. Current treatments include topical agents with calcineurin inhibitors and corticosteroids, NB-UVB phototherapy or a surgical approach. So far, current treatment results vary between patients and are often unsatisfactory. The demand for new treatments is high. In the past few years various therapies (apremilast and afemelanotide) were studied, but unfor-tunately these did not yield favourable outcomes. However, Ruxolitinib (JAK1/2 inhibitor) seems to be effective and is currently investigated further in clinical trials.
