Research interests

Alberto M. Pereira (Uruguay, 23 nov 1966) is professor of medicine and head of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Amsterdam University Medical Centers. He was president of the European Neuroendocrine Association (2016-2018), and since 2017 he is the coordinator of the European Reference Network on Rare Endocrine Conditions (Endo-ERN). He is also PI of the Horizon2020 ERICA project, that aims to strengthen the ERN’s research and innovation capacity. His clinical and translational research focusses on the long-term effects of hypothalamic and pituitary diseases, and in specific on the effects of stress hormones on the brain. He is the recipient of the prestigious 2022 ESE Clinical Endocrinology Trust Award.
