Description
In Neograft, we aim to tackle a global problem of chronic kidney diseases by establishing a novel type of cell therapy, nKSPCs, which will enable to:
i. recondition kidney grafts prior to transplantation and extend the number of kidneys suitable for transplantation in a growing population of patients on a transplantation waiting list;
ii. regenerate kidneys affected by chronic kidney diseases.

Layman's description
We study the potential of kidney stem cells derived from the urine of preterm neonates to be used as a source for therapy to induce immunomodulation and regeneration of human kidneys.
Key findings
nKSPC are isolated non-invasively from the urine of preterm neonates.
nKSPC have immunosuppressive potential.
nKSPC can be safely admnistered to human kidneys for ex vivo therapy.
nKSPC induce re-activation of developmental genes in ischemically-damaged human kidneys.
