Abstract

In this article the relevance of genetic polymorphism of the immune system for the development and disease course of autoimmune disorders will be discussed. Systemic lupus erythematosus and juvenile idiopathic arthritis are used as examples of systemic autoimmune diseases. Factors of the innate immunity and specific immunity are discussed separately.
