Case 6: Parkinson’s Disease with Left-Sided Spasticity: Parkinson’s Disease with Left-Sided Spasticity

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterAcademicpeer-review

Abstract

This chapter presents a patient with symptoms suspected of Parkinson’s disease, but challenging neurologic examination due to a preexisting neurological condition. It shows an example of the added value of dopamine transporter single photon emission computed tomography (DAT SPECT) in the diagnostic process in such complicated cases. Besides, the interpretation of the semiquantitative analysis of the DAT SPECT scan in this case is not straightforward but demonstrates the usefulness of the putamen to caudate ratio and visual binding pattern.
