Abstract

The quality of liquid fuels continues to be important particularly in response to continuing pressures to reduce emissions and improve efficiency of vehicles both in terms of tank to wheels CO2 emissions and tailpipe emissions. The pressures mean that vehicle manufacturers are working to improve the performance of vehicles which may involve new hardware that the fuel will come into contact with including injectors and injection systems fuel pumps and seals. Concawe has conducted three market surveys in the years 2008 2010 and 2012 of market fuel surveys on gasoline and diesel qualities in 18 European countries with a total of 547 samples (151 gasoline and 396 diesel). A summary of the data by country is presented and illustrated the data in charts for comparison purposes.
