Abstract

We report a patient with contact urticaria (CU) due to raw potato. In potatoes, various allergens have been identified, of which the glycoprotein patatin (Sol-t-1) is the most important one. Patatin is also present in other plants of the Solanaceae family and in natural rubber latex. Hence, our patient might have to avoid these plants and products too. There are also indications that potato allergy is associated with an allergy to pollen of spring tree and grasses.
