Abstract

In the past years a renewed interest has emerged in the implications of aberrant terminal R waves or J-ST segments, J point elevation and J waves on the electrocardiogram of patients without evidence of gross structural cardiac abnormalities because of the association with malignant arrhythmias and (familial) sudden death. There have been propositions to group selected clinical entities (Brugada syndrome and early repolarization syndrome) of which the principal electrocardiographic element consists of these electrographic phenomena under the broader term J wave syndromes. In this paper such a grouping is discussed
