Abstract
Distinguishing between infectious pneumonia and other causes of abnormal X-rays can be challenging. This commentary describes how this distinction can be made by means of sound clinical reasoning, making judicious use of laboratory tests and especially by using HRCT scanning to confirm certain diagnoses on the basis of well-known radiology patterns.
