Abstract

Myocardial cells isolated from different depths of the ventricular wall show substantial differences in action potential duration. Whether these electrophysiological differences are present in vivo when the cells are well coupled is a subject of ongoing controversy. This article provides a brief review and includes experimental evidence derived from patients undergoing cardiac surgery. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved
