Abstract
Bladder sparing strategies have been reported as an alternative for the standard radical cystectomy for muscle invasive bladder cancer. We performed a retrospective analysis of 114 carefully selected patients with solitary T1G 3-T2G 1-3 tumours, ≤ 5cm, without CIS or metastasis, who were scheduled for afterloading-brachytherapy. This resulted in a 73% 10-year disease-specific survival rate and preserves the bladder in 99 of the 111 patients (89%).
