Abstract

In the wavelength range from 900-1700 nm, diffusion theory predicts a strong variation in sampling depth with wavelength (between 1 mm and more than a centimeter). This significantly complicates spectral analysis and seriously limits the sensitivity for small pockets of cancer. We developed an approach to overcome this problem end tested it on fresh resection specimen.
