Abstract

Mechanical thrombectomy is of growing importance for the treatment of thrombus. Although there are numerous reports about dialysis fistulae and arterial thrombosis, venous applications are currently not well known. We report that an extensive venous thrombotic occlusion can be treated with mechanical thrombectomy, without additional local lysis. This report deals with the indication and technique of venous mechanical thrombectomy and discusses the possible applications
