N2 - The moment of readiness to return to sport (RTS) after injury is the main question during sports injury rehabilitation. In this chapter, we discuss general principles in injury rehabilitation and RTS in track and field. To understand the full scope of an injury, it is essential to analyze etiological injury risk factors, training load, and biomechanics. These factors have to be taken into account in the rehabilitation plan and after RTS in order to prevent recurrent and new injuries. In every phase of rehabilitation, searching for the optimal loading of the injured tissue is key. Ideally, the final RTS decision is a multidisciplinary decision in which results of clinical tests, tolerance of sport-specific training, and psychological readiness of the athlete should be included.
