Abstract

Inadequate bladder emptying as a result of infravesical obstruction can have significant impact on the function of the urinary tract and also renal function. Urethral stenosis and stricture (US) are predominantly found in males and they can occur at any level. Except for some congenital anomalies, the exact epidemiology in the pediatric population is not really known. Specific diagnostic pathway followed by proper management is crucial to achieve the best possible outcome. The goal of the treatment is to restore the normal voiding pattern. This is to avoid high intravesical pressure leading to lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS), urinary tract infections, and renal impairment.
