N2 - The lateral geniculate nucleus of the thalamus (LGN) is a relay nucleus between the retina and the visual cortex. A new brain imaging study shows that LGN activity is modulated by figure–ground organization, even when the figure and ground are presented to different eyes: a hallmark of a cortical feedback effect.
