Abstract
There is no uniform policy regarding thromboprophylaxis in patients undergoing knee arthroscopy or plaster-cast immobilisation. The available literature indicates that the risk of venous thromboembolism is substantial in patients undergoing knee arthroscopy (10%) and plaster-cast immobilisation (200%). Therefore, thromboprophylaxis should be considered mandatory in these patients.
