N2 - Work disability assessment of cancer survivors can be complex. This qualitative study aims to investigate aspects insurance physicians (IPs) consider in assessing work disability of cancer survivors, their experiences related to the use of guidelines and their needs related to the use of a prediction rule that targets to support work disability assessments. Three consecutive focus group interviews were held, using a predetermined topic list. The interviews were analysed using thematic analysis. IPs reported to feel responsible for correct assessment of cancer survivors’ work disability. Medical and non-medical factors were considered. Adherence to guidelines that aim to support IPs in the assessment was diverse. There seems to be a need to enhance guideline adherence in order to support the work disability assessment of cancer survivors. Regarding the introduction of a prediction rule, in order to support work disability assessment of cancer survivors, development of an implementation strategy should be considered.
