Geert Kazemier went to medical school at Erasmus University Rotterdam, The Netherlands and also followed his residency in general surgery at that institution. After a fellowship in hepatobiliary surgery and transplantation at Universitätsklinikum-Eppendorf, inHamburg, Germany and at Erasmus Medical Center Rotterdam he became a staff member and consultant hepatobiliary surgery and transplantation at Erasmus Medical Center and was later appointed program leader liver transplantation at that center.He was also chairman of the operating room departments at Erasmus Medical Center and vice-chairman of the emergency, perioperative and intensive care divisionat Erasmus Medical Center. He was the founder of Erasmus Health Care Logistics, whichinvestigates logistic processes in health care. He was appointed professor of hepatobiliary surgery and transplantation at Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc, in January 2012 and is currently responsible for surgical oncology and abdominal surgery at that institution. He is chairman of the Board of Directors of Cancer Center Amsterdam and director of the Cancer Center Amsterdam Foundation, ADORE Foundation and chairman of Life Science Made Better Foundation at Amsterdam UMC
