Our research focusses on optimizing grading and detection of bladder cancer, and the use of urinary markers (primarily based on DNA methylation) as non invasive cancer detection method, both in muscle invasive bladder cancer (MIBC) and non muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Research is conducted in close collaboration with the Netherlands Cander Institute and the Department of Pathology.
Furthermore there is close collaboration with the University of Twente and Department of Pathology on the development and future use of nano-techonology and “lab on a chip” as a means of detection of small amounts of (hypermethylated) DNA tumormarkers in full void urine.
Co-author on multiple papers on diagnosis/imaging and treatment of prostate-cancer.
