Personal profile

Research interests

I have a strong interest in the organization of healthcare and am driven to discover ways to improve the system for all parties involved. My background as a physician allows me to see the inner workings of healthcare at a micro level and apply that understanding to the larger, macro level processes and outcomes. During my PhD, I will focus on studying the first Dutch Academic hospital merger (AMC with VUmc into Amsterdam UMC) . My interests lie in its effects on both, microlevel processes (clinical integration) and macro level processes and outcomes (quality of care, efficiency, healthcare market). I hope my research will add valuable knowledge on managing complex processes like hospital mergers and provide insight into the benefits of combining an academic hospital in a system with a regulated healthcare market.
