Abstract

For university medical centers (UMCs), interprofessional collaboration is a key element in working on value-based health care (Position paper Waardegedreven Zorg, NFU. https://nfukwaliteit.nl/pdf/NFU-Position_Paper_Waardegedreven_Zorg.pdf, 2019). Every health-care provider that contributes to a patient's care is part of the interprofessional team. Together they bear the responsibility for the entire care process, and for the outcomes and experiences of the patient. As a team, they learn to continuously improve the care of their patients. In this contribution, we highlight aspects of interprofessional learning and working in teams, as a condition for providing optimally integrated care to patients.
