Burn wound healing, Skin regeneration and Immunology
Research interests
Ibrahim Korkmaz holds the position of assistant professor specializing in Burn wound healing, Skin regeneration, and Immunology. He is affiliated with the Department of Plastic, Reconstructive & Hand Surgery, as well as the SkinLab within the Department of Molecular Cell Biology & Immunology at Amsterdam UMC, located at VUmc in Amsterdam. Additionally, he is associated with the Burn Center and the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Red Cross Hospital in Beverwijk, the Netherlands.
His research lines encompass skin regeneration, wound healing, and immunology, employing a multidisciplinary approach that integrates experimental and computational methodologies. Dr. Korkmaz's primary research focus lies in investigating the post-burn immune response and developing advanced 3D reconstructed human skin models tailored for burn wound healing studies. Moreover, he has pioneered a novel systems biology approach to comprehensively understand burn wound healing processes, complementing traditional organotypic skin models utilized in wound healing and fibrosis research.
